Happy Days

Happy Days…A Cherished Moment…

Golden ray - sunny day

Fields of corn and bales of hay

Foxgloves in a shady patch

Cottage with a roof of thatch

A dog with lots of energy

Unhook the leash and set him free

Watch the children laugh and play

Listen to the horses neigh

Listen to the birdsong too

Gaze up to a sky so blue

Lying under weeping willow

Grassy mounds provide a pillow

Twirling buttercups under your chin

They mirror sunshine on your skin

Sip of glass of pink champagne

Shelter from the passing rain

Explore the forest – walk on through

As dappled light shines down on you

The sun is back in all its glory

We’ll tell the kids a fairy story

Taste water from the babbling stream

On stepping stones of mossy green

Come out through the other side

The prince has won, the dragon died

See a rainbow arch the fields

Smell fresh grass and dig your heels

Run and leap and laugh and sing

Reap the treasures born from spring

So much to taste – to drink – to eat

Still lemonade that tastes so sweet

Pick the strawberries growing wild

Feed them to your passing child

Play a game of hide and seek

Run up to the highest peak

Feel the breeze upon your skin

Watch the evening clouds roll in

A distant moon of crescent shape

A view that leaves your mouth agape

Tumbling down the hills we laugh

As sunset signs its autograph

A sky of pink awaits our sight

We’ll watch it till the stars shine bright

Upon a blanket – fire aglow

Toasting sticky marshmallow

Huddle on a weathered log

Pretend there is a creeping fog

As we tell tales of spooks and ghosts

And laugh at who should freak the most

Imagine beasts that hunt and prowl

Twit-twooing of the wise old owl

A badgers cry, a passing fox

It’s time to put on cosy socks

It’s time to snuggle in our sacks

It’s time for sleep – we’ve done relax

Orange cinders ebb away

Tomorrow is another day

We had a ball – we had a laugh

We have it all on photograph

We close our eyes, we breathe a sigh

The calmness is our lullaby
