The Puddle Monster...
I love jumping in puddles, it's so much fun
If I had my way I would splash everyone
It's not quite the same as splashing in the bath
When you splash outside it's much more of a laugh
I have to wear wellies whenever it's raining
If I go out in shoes then my mum starts complaining!
With no time to waste - I don't even pause
To think of the mischief I'm going to cause
With a splish-splash-splosh I soak my sister
I'm far too quick, oh I've never missed her
She's shouts after me, "I'll get you, you rotter!"
I run away and giggle because once again I've got her
Then one day my mother sat me down and said to me
"You shouldn't jump in deep puddles so carefree,
If you jump in a puddle next time - I bet you,
The puddle monster will come right up and get you!
Once you disturb him the puddles will bubble
Then you will know that you're really in trouble
He'll rise from the pavement, his eyes big and wide
Then he'll grab round your ankles and pull you inside
He won't eat you for dinner or nibble your nose
But he'll take off your wellies and tickle your toes
He'll TICKLE and TICKLE and TICKLE you till
You're laughing so much that you just can't keep still
Then just when you think there's no more you can stand
You'll be back on the pavement - not under the ground
That monster was BIG and BUBBLY and TALL
You'll remember his face then you'll hear him call -
'Let that be a lesson - a lesson to you
And did you know that there's a mud monster too?
He's a cousin of mine and his name is MUDOO' "
Now mummy is happy and always seems to smile
For I have not jumped in big, muddy, puddles for a while
Couldn't figure it out - but now I know why
It's because these days I always keep clean and dry
So the next time you are walking down a puddly, wet street
Don't splash because there's a monster right under your feet!
